  • Using the Mid Year Meeting as an indicator we are in for an amazing Philadelphia 2012 ERAPPA Conference.  The food was excellent, the hotel staff on top of their game, the committee working sessions helpful and the joint meetings really drilled down into the details. Looking forward to seeing all you in Philadelphia this September / October.

 Message from President

greg scott-sm It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 62nd Annual Meeting of ERAPPA in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Philadelphia is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, located along the Delaware and Schuykill Rivers.  It is the commercial, cultural, and educational center of the Delaware Valley – home to six million people and the country’s fifth-largest metropolitan area.  Besides its shortened nickname, “Philly,” Philadelphia is also known as “The City of Brotherly Love” which comes from the literal meaning of the city’s name in Greek – philos (loving) and adelphos (brother).  Philadelphia’s history attracts millions of tourists each year, while its economy is driven by the information, service, and financial industries.  Philadelphia is one of the largest health education and research centers in the United States.

Philadelphia also boasts a very high concentration of higher educational facilities – and it is your colleagues at those institutions who comprise the Host Committee that is working very hard to plan a memorable ERAPPA 2012 Annual Meeting.  The theme of the meeting is “Holding Truths and Pursuing Happiness” – modeled after verbiage from the Declaration of Independence, which was signed in Philadelphia.  The keynote and plenary speakers have been selected with this theme in mind and the professional development program will be centered around these ideals as well.  This conference promises to be very exciting and engaging.

On behalf of the ERAPPA Board and all of the volunteers who make our organization so successful, please accept my invitation to join us from September 30 through October 3, 2012 in Philadelphia.  Come to Philly to reaffirm the truths about the importance of the work we perform each day as facilities management professionals.  Come to Philly in pursuit of happiness through networking with your colleagues and business partners, as well as enjoying the art, culture, history, and cuisine the city has to offer.  Come to Philly!

All the best,

Gregory A. Scott
ERAPPA President
